Overview

translate5 supports the integration of match resources via plug-in.

Users can use matches for translating segments in the editor.

Users can use the concordance search for looking for segments with certain words in them.

A new match resource can be developed quite easy as translate5 plug-in. Needed is a translation memory service or machin translation service, that provides a REST-API or other standard web-based API.

As long as no match resource is assigned to a task, you do not recognize anything of the match-resource feature.

The match-resource feature is developed as a translate5 plug-in and must be installed and activated accordingly.

As soon as the translate5 crowdfunding for an Open Source Translation System sucessfully finishes its second funding phase (for the OpenTM2 components), the feature will be publicly available as Open Source and the plug-in will be activated by default. Until then it is only available for supporters of the crowdfunding and can be tested at www.translate5.net.

Manage match resources

To manage match resources, click on the "match resources" button in the upper right corner of translate5.

Web-based match resources

For web-based match resources translate5 queries the integrated resource via API for matches and concordance search matches. If the resource supports it, new segments can also be saved to the resource.

Moses standard connector

Moses is the standard open source machine translation (MT) system. Most commercial MT systems build on Moses. translate5 supports the standard Moses-connector.

This way it is easy to integrate most MT systems with translate5.

Integrated MT systems show up as matches in the translate5 match panel inside translate5 editor.

System administrators: Please see the database based configuration on how to configure a Moses standard connector for usage in translate5.

Web-based match resources

File-based translation memories use file-based databases to search for their matches (e. g. SDL Trados Studio or OpenTM2).

translate5 manages file-based TMs, that are integrated via API. For a file-based TM it is possible to

  • upload a TM-file in the native format of the resource
  • download the TM-file in the native format of the resource
  • upload and import a TMX-file for import into a existing TM-file

Dummy file-based translation memory

This is for development and demonstration purpose only. No production use possible. You can use the attached CSV-file for testing and demonstrating.

Since this match-resource type is for demonstration purposes only, you can not 

  • save new matches into it
  • upload and import a TMX-file for import into a existing TM-file

Assigning match resources to a task

All match-resources, that are assigned to a task are queried for matches. This can be one, two or multiple match-resources.

Each assigned match-resource corresponds to one uploaded file-based TM or integrated web-based match resource.

Of course you can upload multiple file-based TMs for one language combination and thus assign multiple file-based TMs to one task.
