Why task TMs?
In translate5 it is not possible for users in a task to directly save segments to a main TM with reading and writing rights. As soon as a TM with writing rights is assigned to a task, a task TM is created. A task TM is a translation memory that is linked to a specific task and language combination. It is automatically created during import and integrated into the task with reading and writing rights. During the project, it functions as temporary storage. This way, the segments edited and saved during the project are first saved to the task TM. The content is only saved in the linked main TM once the respective task is completed.

Visibility and labelling
Task TMs can be displayed in the language resources overview of translate5 or of the relevant project by activating the task TM display via any column.
The naming of task TMs follows the pattern “Task TM id ‘TASK NUMBER”’.
Using a task TM in multiple tasks
A task TM can also be used across tasks. To do this, task TMs need to be visible, and the relevant tasks must be set up as follows:
In the project creation wizard
Here, task TMs can be made visible in the “Associate language resources” step by activating the “Show foreign task TMs” filter in the “Task TM” column. This means that not only the task’s own TM is now visible, but all task TMs available in translate5 are displayed. To ensure that the desired task TM is used in the task, tick the checkboxes for reading and writing rights in the corresponding line.
The additional task TM is taken into account when the project is imported and is therefore automatically available in the relevant tasks.
In the project overview
If the project for which a task TM from another project is to be integrated already exists, this can be done in the project overview in the “Language resources” tab. Here too, all available task TMs are first made visible using the “Show foreign task TMs” filter. Then the checkboxes for reading and writing rights need to be ticked in the task TM’s row.
In order for the foreign task TM to become active, the analysis must be run again in the “Language resources” tab for the respective project.
