The “File format and segmentation settings” section in translate5 is used to control how files are treated and the text they contain is segmented during import – i.e. how the source files (e.g. DOCX, HTML, XML, HTTP, etc.) are processed during upload and prepared for translation.
Error message when importing Xliff 2.0 files
translate5 only supports Xliff files of version 1.1 and 1.2 by default. If you try to import a version 2.0 Xliff file, the import is cancelled, the affected task is coloured red in the project list and an error is displayed in the project events showing the following message:
Only XLF 1.1 and 1.2 are natively supported. You can use OKAPI to import XLIFF Version 2 Files.
The following describes how the file format and segmentation settings can be changed so that your translate5 system can also import Xliff files of version 2.0.
Customizing file format settings for Xliff 2.0 files
- In the “Preferences”, go to the “File format and segmentation settings” section.
- In the line of the build configuration via which you wish to import Xliff 2.0 files, click on the button to copy the filter set.
- A window appears in which you can give the newly created filter set a meaningful name.
- After confirming with the “OK” button, the new filter set appears in the file format and segmentation settings list.
- Add a meaningful description to it.
- Click on the button to display the filter settings.
- Use the search field at the top right to search for okf_autoxliff@okf_autoxliff.
- Double-click in the “File types” column of the filter and add “xliff” and “xlf” by typing and/or selection.
- Confirm by clicking the “Update” button below and close the window.
- The newly created, Xliff 2.0-compatible filter set is now available in the project creation wizard.
